Cloth Mailing Bags
All-natural cotton drawstring bags for small unbreakable parts: bolts, nuts, screws. Drawstring closure and a cloth-lined paper address tag. Nine sizes.
Why a paper envelope loses its bolts on the way
Send a handful of bolts, nuts or screws in a paper envelope and the threads do the damage. Every thread acts like a saw tooth against the paper, the corners wear through first, and by the time the package reaches a depot the count is short and the envelope is open on one side. Small hardware is heavy for its size and sharp at the edges, and a mailing container for it has to take that abuse without giving way.
That is the job the cloth mailing bag does. It is a bag of all-natural cotton, so the fabric gives with the load instead of splitting along a seam. Nothing about it depends on tape or glue, and nothing on it is sharp enough to catch another parcel in the same sack.

Drawstring closure and a cloth-lined paper address tag
Each bag closes with a drawstring, so the same bag that arrives packed can be opened, emptied and closed again without tools. The address goes on a paper tag that is lined with cloth, which keeps the tag from tearing off at the one place a mailing bag is handled hardest, the neck.
The sizes run from 3 by 4 inches up to 7.5 by 18 inches, nine NSNs in all, each with its own bundle count. The four largest bags are bundled by fifty and the five smaller ones by a hundred. Those are the figures on the spec table below, and they are the figures a requisition should quote.
These bags are cut and sewn at the plant at 4126 Berkeley Ave in Kinston, North Carolina, in the Textiles department, where the sewing and the manual and automated machine work is done by people who are blind or visually impaired.
Made for the General Services Administration, in the line since 1995
The bags are manufactured for the General Services Administration, and Lions Industries for the Blind has been a supplier of them since 1995. Like most of what the plant makes, they are sold to the Federal Government under the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act, which requires the work to meet competitive quality and price standards.
The plant holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, certificate no. A-702. If you are matching a bundle to a requisition and the size or unit of issue is not clear from the table, customer service answers at (252) 523-1019, Monday to Thursday, 7 AM to 5:30 PM.
